1. Make an appointment
Schedule a time to do your workout, however also be open to reschedule. Just as any other appointment in your life, you do your best to keep that appointment but when necessary you may postpone it an hour. Plan to workout on a regular schedule and always remember if you run a little late, a little something is better than nothing.

2. Vary up your workout routine
Be cautious about a boring routine. Mix up your workouts between training for cardio, strength, and flexibility. Try not to do the same workout two days in a row. This prevents you from getting bored and also challenges your body most effectively.

3. Do not over-train
Weight gain does not happen over night and therefore, neither does weight loss. Having a healthy body should not require a full-time job of working out. Ensure your workouts maximize your time and that you allow a realistic time to reach your goals. Allowing your body the chance to recover from workouts is just as important as the exercise itself.

4. Buddy up
Friends offer motivation to workout and create a social atmosphere rather than one to be dreaded. Choose friends with similar interests such as hiking, biking, or jogging, or meet a friend at the gym and catch up between sets or on the cardio machines. Many friends chat on the phone or over dinner, if these chats can be done while doing something active it is the perfect opportunity to kill two birds with one stone.
